This Action β, a "π±π§ ππ»π³Reactivation of Open Spaces through Nature-Based Solutionsπ±π§ ππ»π³" aims to bring together the past and the future to establish ecological practices and collaborative design installations in Milan. Milan is a city that highly valued the development of green policies in recent years both by implementing new urban strategies (Urban Plan 2030) and by committing to international sustainability networks. The current layout of the city is largely based on former rural partitions and water infrastructure. Cores of the overall land management were agricultural estates called βcascineβ. Each cascina was a self-sustained community managing territorial relations and local ecosystems. Target of this project will be the system of cascine as living historic heritage and cultural engines located in key peripheral districts now enclosed in urbanised areas. Cascina Linterno, the site of the proposed Action is an old farmhouse in the West of Milan, enclosed in a wide periurban park, an ancient farmhouse from the XI century protected since 1999 by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. Fund4ACT is being used to financial support this activation of π±π§ ππ»π³ Open Spaces through Nature-Based Solutions π±π§ ππ»π³ for local education and capacity building. This historical monument was saved from urban sprawl thanks to the engagement of a farmer and some local associations. They promote cultural and historical recovery and environmental awareness of the local ecosystems. The site is also famous for its beehives and the production of honey.
