This ensures the garden continues to thrive as a shared, sustainable, and heritage-connected public space. In Ballina, the historic Methodist Church becomes reactivated as a site of community cultivation and shared learning through the co-creation of a digitally fabricated vegetable garden. Community needs and local environmental data inform the garden’s algorithmically generated design, using advanced digital tools and fabrication techniques. The resulting structure reflects New European Bauhaus principles—beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive—and is implemented and co-maintained by local residents. This transformation repositions the church as a living, productive space rooted in Ballina’s evolving cultural landscape.
